The Results

So the jury made its decision, unfortunately we didn’t win. We can always take it like footballers and say “we didn’t win the game but we won experience”, regardless we had a ton of fun and realized that we can do great work if we push for it. We are really happy with our submission, and taking into consideration that we had to shoot with a mobile phone with a camera that doesn’t allow you to control focus and changes colours in the middle of your shot, we still had a decent looking video.

The jury decided to award Gold to the team from Italy, Silver to Poland and Bronze to Chile. We haven’t seen the silver and bronze submissions but we saw what won and the only thing we can say is that there is definitely no way to understand how the jury works, when you think they will award the idea, they award execution, when you think they will go for the best storytelling they go for something else. Maybe next year we will strike gold, or not, but we’re sure the experience will be just as awesome as this year.

Yesterday we told this little man how jealous we are of him.

The 20 year-old student Mak Long just won the Grand Prix in Outdoor with Ogilvy Shanghai for his amazing design and idea.

The day we received our briefing, Cannes became smaller; the size of the hotel room. So we missed the 3rd Awards ceremony, the one for Cyber, Radio, Desing and Press. Highlights of the night:

For Cyber, they awarded two Grand Prix. One went to R/GA NY and their campaign for Nike + Fuelband, Make it count. The other went to the guys from Volontaire Estocolmo and their Curators of Sweden for the Swedish Institute. The Golds that we liked the best: Only ‘s The Liberation from Uncle Grey Copenhague and North Kingdom Estocolmmo; American Express Small business gets an official day from Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Google’s All is not lost by Hakuhodo Tokio.

A lot of love in Print, the only Grand Prix was for the global campaign of United Colours of Benetton Unhate (Palestine and Israel)”, “Unhate (USA and Venezuela)” and “Unhate (Germany and France)”.

For Design there were 169 entries, 19 golds but only one Grand Prix as well. Serviceplan Munich took it home for their work for The Solar Annual Report 2011. Great stuff!

The country with more awards so far is Mexico. (We wish the voting goes that well on July 1st)

They also gave the Young creatives lions for Print, Cyber and Design. We already showed the Print pieces. Once they are available, we are going to post the rest of the winners: Cyber from Poland and Design from Colombia. (Said says “Yeah!”)

Unfortunetley for us that means we can’t start editing our submission, they have closed down the entire palais, if you are not in the auditorium you gotta get out.

The day has come, where we have to drop the rosé, the parties, and avoid all distractions– which is nearly impossible in this place. And focus on what we are here to do.

The brief for the Young Lions film competition is for Movember. Lets see what we can come up with for this already awesome brand.

The tools are: 48 hours, Nokia Lumia 800, and Adobe creative suite 6.

Creative effectiveness, media, mobile and outdoor will be awarded today. It should be a good show. The Creative Effectiveness award is a must have, its a big agency type of award but its nice to see small shops like Lowe-SSP3 Colombia and Ponce Argentina in the mix. Grey NY is a favourite with Febreze - Breathe Happy but with competition like O&M NY’s Watson campaign for IBM and W+K’s Born of Fire for Chrysler its gonna be a close one.
